Gifting The House
Challenge
As a means of establishing ourselves as a key technical development partner, Deepend were charged with developing the Gift Certificate component on the current Sydney Opera House website. Developing on a pre-existing Ektron CMS base, integrating with Tessitura CRM and inventory platform, these new ticketing components had to blend seamlessly with the existing ecommerce process. Given the variance in ticketing options available at SOH, they also had to provide for a great degree of flexibility in terms of redemption and completion.
Response
Despite being developed in parallel to the existing platform, the Gift Certificate modules run smoothly alongside the existing cart process. They provide a benchmark for fully featured gift certificate development, allowing the user to purchase fixed and custom amounts, as well as catering to all conceivable redemption scenarios, such as overspend balance being provided by credit card and reissuing of credit notes for partial redemption.
Result
The results have been phenomenal, with the development achieving a full return on investment within 2 weeks of launch. Gift Certificates are now a major revenue provider for the Opera House, and are extending it’s reach to an entirely new audience.
