Museum of Old and New Art

Something old, Something New

The intriguing business of old and new art

Challenge

Tasmania's Museum of Old and New Art has put the Apple Isle on the world map. Literally. The masterpiece of a single man, MONA reopened after three years of reconstruction in October 2011 to global fanfare.

Being appointed to build the new MONA website was perhaps one of the most exciting opportunities that Deepend had had to date. A mammoth project that included the need to build a ticketing system, eCommerce system, transportation system and packaging system. Oh, and it also needed to be able to promote the museum, the annual festival, the winery, the brewery, the pavilions and sell accommodation to every hotel in Hobart.

Response

With each project that Deepend and MONA embark upon together the relationship grows stronger and stronger. Our understanding of the identity and vision of MONA continues to grow as does their trust in our knowledge and capability.

Result

The site takes the user to information about what’s on at Mona as well as giving them access to events, ticketing, accommodation, retail and integration with ‘The O’. The site has had nearly 800, 000 unique visits since going live in Dec 2011 with a third of those visitors going to the online shop and making a purchase.
