Get Down Low And Go, Go, Go

Educating the community on fire safety through immersive interaction

Challenge

Deepend was honoured when we were appointed to lead the digital elements of the 2011/12 Summer Fire Campaign. Ultimately we saw this challenge as being about much more than an opportunity to create a cutting edge digital marketing campaign, but an opportunity to possibly help save lives. Following the incredible success of the original project with the Department of Justice, Deepend has since been appointed by the Country Fire Authority to build a ground-breaking new bushfire education simulator aimed targeting secondary education students.

Each of these projects have had their own unique challenges. Different audiences, different objectives, different technologies and so on. But overall the objective of this entire campaign is relatively straightforward – generate positive long-term behaviour change in all Victorians around bushfire preparedness.

Response

The great relationship between Deepend and the Department of Justice rivals that of any that our agency has with any of our clients. Each project that we have completed has strengthened the relationship with client and the many stakeholders involved. It is due to this continuing success Deepend has been proud to consistently be appointed to more and more projects with the Victorian Government and its statutory agencies.

Result

The digital marketing of the 2011/12 campaign generated phenomenal success with digital marketing generating up to a 2.8% click-through-rate – 10 times that of the previous year. The digital marketing also set a record in pushing more than 500,000 people through to the CFA website. The FireReady Challenge converted more than a third of unique visitors, who went on to start a fire plan. Ultimately saving lives is one of the greatest achievements to date.
